Fair warning of all the blog posts this one is not technical, but it will give you some insight on our brand and how Stuff Curious People Design (SCRPD = think scrapped) came to be.
As long as I can remember I have always been the person known for tinkering. I grew up with a mountain of Legos and any other item that was safe enough for me to build with and be creative. As the years progressed upgraded to hot glue guns, balsa wood, and eventually got a drill press for Christmas at age 13 (I know what every kid dreams about under the tree). After fixing all of the neighbors’ homes through high school it was time for me to do what every high school graduate was supposed to do… go to college. Checked that box, got an engineering degree and started a corporate job. Most would argue I had figured it all out, and I would agree with them, I have been extremely fortunate my entire life, always worked hard and it paid off every time. Here is the BUT… I always felt something was missing, it goes back to that pile of Legos, back to the days where I would just create things and let my mind run wild. I had lost the part of my life that I enjoyed the most, where I would create, where I would watch a project come to life slowly morphing into a tangible object. So what do we do when we lose something… we go find it.
SCRPD is the reincarnation of this part of my life but this time with all of the knowledge gained along the way; fixing the neighbors’ homes, going to college, and working the corporate job. SCRPD is exactly what the name suggests Stuff Curious People Design, as well as its abbreviation SCRPD “scrapped”... because we all have bad ideas, and like any good development process we will work through the bad ideas to create great solutions. SCRPD is all about building a better lifestyle, creating custom small batch products for the people who won't accept that something is just alright…
